Today, we learned about the Liberty Bell! I love teaching the kids about the American Symbols because they get so excited!!!! Today, they learned some awesome facts about the bell and saw where it is located! They got to hold a model made out of Legos and a metal model! We also did an experiment with two bells. One of the bells had a crack in it like the Liberty Bell and one did not! They had to make a prediction if the two bells would sound the same or different when we rang them. Then they had to listen to the two bells to see if they sounded the sane or different ! They also looked at real photos of the bell and drew it!! It was an awesome day!!
In science this week, we learned about electricity!! Boy did we have fun! First we talked about electricity and what it is. Then we talked about Benjamin Franklin. They listened to a song about the amazing man and we also listened to the school House Rock song about electricity. Then we did our experiments!!
I love @stevespanglerscience!! He is amazing! I used his energy stick to teach them that in order for electricity to work there needs to be a complete circuit! At first, total confusion! Then when we introduced the stick and they saw it for themselves , pardon the pun , but the light bulbs turned on and they understood what I was teaching!!! Here are some pictures from our experiment!!! I absolutely love my job!!! It is the best career to have! I especially love it on days like today when my kids get just as excited as I do when I introduce them to new topics!!!
We learned about the Statue of Liberty! They were so excited!! We read books, watched videos, looked at photographs, drew her and talked all about her! The kids also got to see the actual size of her foot and her nose! They also go to dress up as Lady Liberty and of course I took pictures! Check out some of them below!!!! i love this day and thanks to oriental trading, we were able to celebrate this day in style! We learned about pirates, did some fun activities and then of course got our picture taken!
here we are as a group!!!! to teach rules and expectations at the beginning of the year, I always use the term peace makers and peace breakers. I feel this is a more positive approach and the children really relate well to these terms.
Once we have created our our rules together and discuss which one they are, we go and get our pictures taken! here are some of them as peacemakers! my kiddos adore @GoNoodle! They love the brain energizer and the characters or champs!!!! Not only do they love @gonoodle but they also love @classdojo! So of course what do i do??? I combine these two programs as part of my classroom management system! So , my kids set a goal for Classdojo! Their reward was a GoNoodle day! In order to achieve this goal. They had to get to 8500 dojo points As a class! They worked do do hard to achieve this! They had such a growth mindset, thanks to mojo!!! Well, we met our goal and what does that mean?? We have a GoNoodle day! here is what the day is made up of: first st they get tshirts!!!! These wee made from iron on transfers!!! Check them out!!!!!! then we got a class picture taken!!' we got @gonoodle pencils and stickers from the GoNoodle store and then the fun began!! we did lots of brain energizers! We also did some directed drawings of our favorite champs!!!! the day was amazing and a wonderful reward for all of their hard work!
Thsnk you @classdojo and @gonoodle for providing us with meaningful programs that focus on the right ideas!!!!! we had mad scientist Thursday today and we did soda science!
We we made hypotheses about what would happen if we put mentos into 6 different kinds of sodas!!! we then went outside and conducted this experiment! It was awesome and we loved the explosions!!!!! our snails and guppies arrived for our aquariums! We were so excited!!! We learned all about freshwater snails and guppies! Did you know baby guppies are called fries? Did you know that the largest freshwater snail is 6 inches long? Did you know that you see the eyes of baby guppies can be seen before they are born?
we built our aquarium, discussed the layers and compared them to our terrariums! Then we added our snails and guppies! Here is our aquarium!!!! Happy Mother's Day to all of the amazing MOms, grandmoms, mom moms. aunts and single dads who make my kiddos happy, safe and healthy!!!
Thank you for all that you do!! |
