Monday, January 16 was Dr Martin Luther King Jr day and school was closed! So on Tuesday, January 17 we spent the entire day learning about this great man!
We read some some wonderful books, had some amazing conversations and learned that we are all different yet the same with two eggs, a brown and a white egg!
We read some some wonderful books, had some amazing conversations and learned that we are all different yet the same with two eggs, a brown and a white egg!
We also did a follow me activity where the children all received the same amount of paper and same size paper. Then they cut when I cut and glued their paper together to create Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Here are their creations!!!
We also read my absolute favorite book written by Shane DeRolf. The book is called The Crayon Box That Talked. This is about a box of crayons that do it get along but thanks to a little girl who shows them that all of them are needed to work together to create a beautiful picture, the attitudes of the crayons changed! They all got along! After reading this, they all got a giant Crayon to decorate and then we made a giant Crayon Box to show that we are all different yet the same! The kids loved the book and activity!
The children learned a lot about a great man and the conversations were rich and enjoyable! It is days like this when I am reminded of how lucky I am to be a teacher!
